Homebuyer Counseling
Opens Aug 1 2024 01:30 PM (EST)
Description

The AHA provides one-on-one assistance to first-time homebuyers. Our HUD-certified housing counselors assist potential homebuyers by determining their mortgage readiness, understanding the mortgage loan process, comparing loan products to determine the best mortgage loan for their situation, advising about available down-payment assistance programs, developing a sustainable budget, informing on how to build a home buying team and where to shop for affordable housing opportunities.

In order for a HUD-certified counselor to prepare to meet with you, we need to gather information and documents from you. We have an application available online (click the Blue 'Apply' button).  If you do not feel you can fill out the application online, we can help you through the application on the phone or in person.  Please call 732-389-2958, Option 7 for more information.

Our Application Requires:

  • Collecting information regarding your demographics, your income and finances, your home and your mortgage. We will need you to fill out a budget listing all expenses and bills.
  • Signing disclosures
  • Provide the following documents:
    • Photo ID
    • Income statements (Benefits Letters, Pension Statements, Paystubs spanning one month, Alimony or Child Support orders, etc.)
